Get Familiar With Mr. Brofosem
Abdul ShaQoor Takarah is his birth name given to him by his parents. Born and raised in Gbawe mallam and later moved to the Garden City: Kumasi, to school at NewOxford High School.
During his early childhood, Mr. Brosofem got very interested in music as child when he realized he had to explore his talent, because in the neighbourhood he lived, most people knew how to play soccer, which he couldn’t and those like him who couldn’t play were also dancers, which that too was a disaster. “Lol, but I loved music”, he claimed.
He then decided to try music; which became a very great companion of his in no time. In his family, everyone had to do something unique; new talents and new discovery was a thing in the family. So, him doing music became a dream come true as a new thing to the family.
“My dad had a lot of country music, Jazz and RnB.” “Which I used to listen to almost every time I am alone. And I was alone most of the times after school. I was the cool and quiet type, I still am.” he said.
It was bit hard for him choosing music, since the environment in which he was, never endorsed music. The mentality that if someone doesn’t do religious music, the person is considered spoilt, was what made his journey much more tougher. But his favorite song was by “Otis Redding – Cigarettes and coffee” which is on “The dock of the bay” album.
High school was a bit hard for Mr. Brofosem finding himself in a new environment; a seminary.
His second cycle of education at St.Hubert Seminary being the only Muslim was one hell of a moment for ShaQoor to cope with. “I had to cope and back at school the favorite activity was sports and dance. Some few guys rap” he said. But he wanted to do music so he had to endure.
He began to listen wide and involved himself into rap battles and freestyles. Though some battles didn’t go too well for him in my first year at Senior High School, his confidence never shook. Before he realized, he was the best rapper in his school at that time. And later, he became very popular on campus because he was the only Muslim and who did music as fascinating as they could ever experience in the school.
Then here comes his glorious moments in his musical journey. He continued to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he got to meet a lot of other upcoming artistes like himself. Over there, he was introduced to the studio. He got to meet sound engineers and producers which gave him a great deal of exposure as an artiste.
He got to be featured on songs and some collaborations with his peers as well. Also, his exposure to the lime light was when he was featured on the most alarming cyphers on KNUST campus; The LoudSoundGH Cyphers hosted by DzeBossOnEm (Dze Boss Tunez). Those cyphers were international. He also had a series of interviews and freestyles on radios through that.
