Def Clef Alleged of Stealing The Beat for Sarkodie’s ‘Trumpet’
Multiple sources reveal that the instrumentals used for Sarkodie’s power collaboration ‘Trumpet’ which featured TeePhlow, Medikal, Donzy, Koo Ntakra, Strongman and Pappy Kojo wasn’t produced by Def Clef!
Whilst we were enjoying Sarkodie’s new release ‘Trumpet‘ which has trended on Twitter since its release (And Trending Number 4 on YouTube when writing this post), a close source hinted Loud Sound GH that, the instrumentals is “Stolen” and not produced or sampled by Def Clef as he claims, but rather produced by SuperStarO (@SuperStarO). To some extent, it is no big deal if it’s a sampled beat or instrumental; but taking the beat as it is originally and fixing your jingles in it, is unacceptable according to copyright laws.
We are however confident that, Sarkodie has no idea about the origin of the instrumentals… In recent times, Sarkodie has worked with young producers across the country which I believe is a great way to put them at the forefront and open doors for more opportunities for them. But looks like someone wanted to impress the Ghana “Rap God” by “stealing” a beat and enjoying the applauds for it.
There are many Ghanaian producers who can totally slay a mind-blowing trap instrumentals!! The question left on our table is, was the beat bought by Def Clef “Legally” from SuperStarO or he had permission to use the beat? Well, below is the music video for ‘Trumpet’ and the raw instrumentals by SuperStarO. Listen to both and share your views with us…
