I Respect Shegee Styla. She Is Old Enough To Be My Mother -: Kaakie
Self-Acclaimed Dancehall Queen Diva; Kaakie, apologized to Shegee Styla a.k.a. godMother on Live Radio which happened on Friday 29th July 2016.
After Kaakie released her controversial single titled ‘Sankwas‘, a lot of issues came up as the public speculated that, the song was an indirect insult to some female dancehall artists. Names that came up were AK Songstress, MzVee, Stargyal Denora and almost all the female dancehall artists according to individual translation of the lyrics.
Personally, I had no issue with who Kaakie was referring to in the song; but was concerned about a line in the hook which had something to do with “chewing marijuana“. It did not make sense to me in anyway and I have seen Kaakie trying to explain that line across social media which did not convince me at all.
Anyway, that is not the reason for this article. We will get back to that subject another time… Because of this song, arguments rose up and comparison became the judgment tool… Obviously, names of female artists popped up and people argued they are better than Kaakie. Some of such arguments happened on my private Facebook wall and that brought about a couple of colourful words which I personally think was way out of line. These were coming from close allies to Kaakie.
Shegee Styla was a victim of those verbal attacks and I can say I am a witness to some of them. On Friday, Kaakie was on the “Friday Popping” show hosted by Sir Kay and Mr. Shark on Pluzz Fm 89.9 mhz. Kaakie was asked several questions—and when she was asked if she had issue with Shegee Styla, she said NO and further said she (Shegee Styla) is old enough to be her (Kaakie) mother. and since she was brought up from a good home, she can’t disrespect someone who she can call her Mother.
Kaakie also said that, even though Shegee Styla couldn’t make dancehall an international thing during her time but she (Kaakie) was able to make it possible, that does not give her (Kaakie) the permit to disrespect Shegee Styla. She concluded by saying she wants to meet Shegee Styla and demonstrate the respect she has for her..
Most people wont see anything wrong with Kaakie‘s touching apology; but Mr. Aborga (Me) thinks Kaakie was a bit sarcastic on that issue. I stand to be proved wrong… I am entitled to my opinion and urge you all to listen to some part of the conversation below and leave your comments as well…
