PHOTOS: Hip-Life Artist; Okyeame Kojo Kumi Laid To Rest.
Earlier this year around February, we got reports that one of the Hip-Life legends in the Ghanaian music history book; Okyeame Kojo Kumi has “kicked the bucket”. This happened after a prolonged illness that took him back and forth the hospital and made him undergo a series of surgeries. He could not hold on to the pain after his last surgery and surrendered to his maker. Okyeame Kojo Kumi is well known for a song he got featured on titled “Twe Woho” by Obrafour. I must say that was the biggest break-through for him as a Hip-Life artist.
Okyeame Kojo Kumi has also released a couple of singles such as “Enye Me Nia” featuring the late Terry Bonchaka and few other collaborations which really did great in the music scene back then but, for some reasons, he took a long break from music. The last time Loud Sound Ghana spoke to him, he promised releasing a new song in the year 2014 which could not happen due to reasons best known to him. Unfortunately, we did not follow up on that until we heard about his demise.
The funeral was attended by Elders, Families, Friends and Sympathizers. According to our sources, only few artists passed through. Our sources told us the only artists they could recognize was Pope Skinny and Dr. Poe who threw their support into the whole burial process; especially Pope Skinny… Its rather unfortunate more artists did not pass through since he is well known, but I guess that should be because the burial date was not known by many. Below are few pictures from the burial which took place today 27th June 2015.
