PROMISE To Release A Single Ahead of his “The King Promise” EP
The music scene in Ghana has in recent times witnessed a sudden bloom of amazing talents. From rappers and singers to producers. One of these extra-ordinarily talented musicians happens to be Ghanaian born R&B and Afrobeats Artist by name “PROMISE”. His artistic name is derived from his actual name ‘Gregory Promise Bortey Newman”.
Born to Christian parents, Mr. Francis Newman, a businessman and Angela Quaye, a trader. He is the first child and has 3 sisters. Promise attended De Kings Academy for his childhood education and later attended his hometown secondary school, Nungua Senior High School.
His interest in music grew much more as his father was much of a music fanatic himself. Thus PROMISE grew up on a lot of old school blues and R&B when growing up and that shaped his approach to music.
PROMISE aka KING PROMISE is not a new voice in the music scene in Ghana. He has worked with some of the top musicians in Ghana including Sarkodie & Jayso. But like any budding musician, he had to struggle his way to the point where it was almost impossible to ignore his voice and talent. In the summer of 2013, Sarkodie introduced PROMISE, then known as “Boy Pee” to his business partner, designer and CEO of his successful clothing-line “SARK by Yas”, Miss Yasmin Behzadi.
This introduction led to an official signing of PROMISE to Yasmin and Ced Solo. Ced Solo is a multi-platinum selling, Grammy nominated producer and CEO of Ivy League Hits. Together, they are working on KING PROMISE’S first music project titled “THE KING PROMISE EP”. PROMISE & Ced Solo flew to Dubai to work on this project. The first single is set to be released soon and the music video will follow shortly after.
A rare mix of luck, fate and destiny has brought PROMISE to this point and from what we have heard so far, plus the powerful team behind PROMISE, success is his for the taking. That, he has promised.
