What does Ko-Jo Cue signing to BBnZ really mean?
This Wednesday the internet and the whole Ghanaian Hip-hop community was set ablaze by news that one of their favourite sons has been signed to BBnz (arguably the best label in Ghana now). We at LoudSoundGH made a list of what the signing really means:
- Kumasi Is Back – it is no secret that Kumasi, the city that brought us rap heavyweights back to back has for the past 5 years lacked proper representation on the Ghana music scene. Bradez lost momentum with Kunta Kinte’s illness and Okyeame Kwame has become more than a rapper (and moved to Accra). The city has for sometimes been relying on the small buzz of its underground artistes to stay afloat and now with the BBnZ deal Ko-Jo Cue looks all set to bring back his city.
- CUE Got Another One – Remember the talent house already put one of the most talked about female rappers in the past few years in the game (in the person of Lousika). Now they have managed to secure a better deal to their most talented artiste. Now just imagine who they will put on next.
- BBnZ Got The Best Roster – Ko-Jo is joining an already impressive roster that consists of EL, Qweci Oteng, Shaker, Gemini, DJ Juls, DJ Mic-Smith and Bedi. This officially makes BBnz the label with the best artiste roster since no other label has the same number of talents signed to them.
- Sarkodie Needs To Watch His Throne – It is no news that Obidi has held the rap throne since he dropped his first album. Whilst in the past couple of years, artiste like EL, M.anifest and Joey B have made a play for the throne and established themselves in advantageous positions; Ko-Jo Cue may be in the best position to take the throne since he appeals to both the Ghetto and Dada Bee crowd. He also has an edge over Sarkodie in the English and pidgin rap department. We hope this inspires Obidi to at least get hungry again and bring back that “Makye” energy. GH Hip-Hop needs the competition!!!
