Bless The Mic Music and Arts Festival post press release.
After months of preparation, The Bless the Mic Music and Arts festival climaxed with an event headlined by the sensational EFYA. The festival started with a press launch on 20th September graced by various media houses. On the panel for the press conference were Ameyaw Debrah, the Director of Alliance Francaise Patrice, Festival Director PY Addo Boateng, Noella, CEO of DUNK Eve and chaired by the Director of Commission on Culture Mr. Micheal Attipoe. The launch also saw the unvailing of the new BTM logo and opening of an art exhibition.
The next major event was the Charity basketball game organized in collaboration with DUNK (Developing Unity Nurturing Knowledge) a community based charity that is reaching out to the community through basketball. The tournament was won by the all star BTM Dream Team which had the likes of Van Vicker, PY, Meme, JaySo, Mutombo amongst others. Other teams that participated were DUNK, Tigo, Lincoln Community School…. It was followed with an after party later on that evening in collaboration with Blogging Ghana at the Lexington Bar.
Next event was the Acoustics and Poetry Night that was in honor of some of the best poets that have been with BTM over the years and have improved greatly over the years. There were extra ordinary performances from Mutombo, Ras Bomba, Rhyme Sonny, DK Osei Yaw, Olivia and the special guest, queen of afro jazz Ofie Kudjoe.
Up next was the most talked about Rising Stars of Gh hiphop concert by the US based Ghanaian record producer Coptic. Coptic has worked with some of the biggest names in hiphop worldwide and in recent times started working with Ghanaian acts. There were performances from Kwawkese, J-town, Raquel, Joey B, Stargo, Selorm, Ian Jazzi, Illashaz, Jayso, Ayisi Ican, Medal amongst others and the show was ended by the award winning Sarkodie!
The climax of the festival activities was the all day festival with a kids village followed by a live concert held on the 28th of September 2013. The kids village was packed with lots of fun activities and games for the children as well as performances by some of the kids on a mini stage specially set up for them. Later that night the amphi theatre came alive with stunning performances from Preachers, Syn, Ephraim, Jupitar, Noella, Efya, Yaa Pono, Jackie, and Lady J all backed by the vibrant Afro Harmony band.
