UPCLOSE WITH MAAJOA (@MaajoaGH)
Rap,widely known as the magic ingredient which adds up to the incredible taste of music, comes to life with incredible lyricism patched with the energy needed in performing; thus keeping lot of female talents under the radar, though the few that are able to strike through shows enough potential. Females in rap music are always special and extra ordinary to watch. Taking a look at femcees like Queen Latifah, Eve, Lil Kim, Mc Lyte, Nicki Minaj and the host of others just to mention a few.
On the Ghanaian scene; Accra to be precise, we draw the lens on Maajoa, a young and talented upcoming female lyricist, yet to storm the industry with her words of magic. Currently a banking student at the Chartered Institute of Bankers Ghana.
Born Bernice Yeboah, Maajoa hails from the eastern part of Ghana, where she completed both her basic (Hector International School) and secondary education (Suhum Secondary Technical School) asa mistress’ daughter and a library prefect respectively. Always indoors, Maajoa spent most of her early days with her parents, thus she grew up with few friends. The tables turned when she got to senior high; joining the school drama club, she realized she could sing. Discovering her new potential, she formed a group of three (2 boys and herself). Exhibiting their talents every Saturday night on the school’s entertainment platform, Maajoa earned the best female vocalists which actually won the hearts of her parents, encouraging her to pursue a musical career along side.
Inspired by the likes of Asa and Eve; lined up with barely two hot tracks under her belt, she has been making waves on the underground scene and proven herself with the little she’s done. Maajoa hopes to make it big in Ghana and even bigger in Africa. Maajoa heaps up her fans with dope singles like “Rebound” which is her most loved track and the recently released “Dirty dance” with the incredible singer AJ OMOJALAH (signed to Black Avenue Music) and a jump-on titled “Birthday”.
During her interview with LoudSoundGH, she talks about the role her family have been playing in her music career; not to mention of her little brother(Paa Kwesi) who has been there for her throughout the high and low points in her career. Again, she talked about how she found her most influenced manager; Aboakese3. who gave her her first instrumental to rap to, at the point where she thought all hope was lost for her in her musical career. Aboakese3 mad her go back to her rap sheets.
Heavenly inspired, Maajoa promises nothing but the best of her to her fans.
