JAMMING by GEMINI
Born Victor Mawuli Orleans-Fiaka, the third of three children to Mr. & Mrs. Chris Orleans-Fiaka, Gemini honestly admits never having to have hustled or growing up a street kid.
Fortunate to have God-fearing responsible parents and family, he finds it strange and rather lame and ungrateful to lie about his upbringing just to project a certain ‘’hardcore’’ image like most hip-hop acts do. Not to say it’s untrue, Gemini prefers that most of them should be real about their past and be truthful to their fans because they usually tell lies with concern to this.
Surprising, but hard to find presently are rappers without tattoos and pierces and that is the exact case with this guy Gemini.
When asked why in an interview with the website, he said ‘’I don’t do Hip-hop so I don’t live it.Alcoholism,drugs,smoking,tatoos,hooliganism,beefing,vulgarity,extravagance,arrogance…nah mayne!I don’t do none of that, the reason thereof. I’m a rapper slash mentor slash role model slash icon so I can’t afford to mislead innocent people’’.However,he maintains that he is much more than just a rapper but a musician and a positive influence to the people; his lifestyle backs up that claim.
‘’Odee!, ’Odee!, ’Odee!, ’Odee!’’ Don’t act like you don’t know the song. The infectious tongue-twisting tune by Ayigbe Edem and Sarkodie had most of us singing the hook, wondering who the English rapper-guy was. At a time when the local dialects of Twi, Ga and Ewe had dominated the music industry, Gemini straight up outta the Skillions camp repping Sakumono proved critics wrong by making a distinct impact on the song against the two Hiplife giants.
Mr.Orleans first made noise in late 2006 with the single ‘’Get Low’’ off his debut mix tape ’’I am GH’’, a big hit in all High schools across the country and the underground scene of GH rap at the time. Then the infamous ‘’Never Forget Me’’ Remix of Akon’s original version leaked and became an even bigger success, launching him into stardom.
Gemini is currently heavily affiliated with labels such as BBnZ Live,Skillions Records and 2131 Records and is rumoured to have scheduled an album to be released sometime mid-next year. However, when asked, he did not specify which month particularly but hinted that his debut album should be expected early 2013.
Prior to this,he’s put out three(3) hot singles in 2012;
“OKAY OKAY”(Prod.byKluMonsta) ft.Lousika, “I’LL DO DON’T DO” and “Ajeee Sweety”.
Having worked with other superb producers/artistes such as Jayso, Lil shaker, bra Kevin etc. he still looks forward to working with other international greats.
To his credit, he can boast of at least 5 unreleased-15track albums, plus, not only did he feature on the 2010 Ghana Music Awards album of the year ‘‘Makye’’ by Sarkodie but also did he make an appearance on his big brother Edem’s album “MASS PRODUCTION” released January 2012 as well as EL’s double cd album titled “SOMETHING ELse” also released June 2012.
The question now is are you ready for him? They say he’s Africa’s fastest rapper, we say he’s the best. What do you say about this next big hit?!
